WEDDING: Matt and Rockael
There are some elements of a wedding that always happen. Two people almost always exchange rings, they get gussied up, there is food and merriment. I love all of that, sure, but what I truly cherish are the things that stick with me after the day is over, the things that are different, funny or memorable.
Matt and Rockael’s wedding was full of things I’ll always remember. First of all, the bridesmaid’s shoes — Rockael insisted they were comfortable (apparently, they were not), one bridesmaid was sent the wrong color (white, not blush) and the flower girl wanted to wear them regardless of their discomfort. These shoes were seriously a big topic of the day’s discussion. While the bridesmaids were figuring out the shoe situation (and a last-minute seamstress emergency on the bride’s dress) Matt and the groomsmen were doing some target practicing in their suits. And fireworks — a wedding surprise by Rockael to Matt (and to me as well!) followed by karaoke and a hearty competition on whether the girls or the guys could raise more moola.
Besides all this crazy fun (and the fact that in 98 degree, very humid heat, Rockael still looked stunning at the end of the night) these two high school sweethearts were meant to be together. I’ve never seen two people laugh so much or dance so hard. May it always be so.
